Heroine - I salute Carrie Prejean, aka Miss California 2009, for standing up and speaking from her heart instead of giving the cookie cutter politically correct answer to her views on Gay Marriage. I am really glad that Carrie had the guts to voice her opinion and show some genuine moral character that was really refreshing to hear. The Judge, upset at Carries answer, was so outraged that he decided to hold this against Miss America with his scoring which possibly may have cost her the Miss USA crown..
Nonetheless, it is safe to say that Carrie is the clear winner in all of this because no has even cared to mention the actual winner, Miss North Carolina.
To be honest, I am a little fed up with all the pandering and political correctness that is being force fed to all of us. There is nothing wrong in declaring that a marriage should be between a woman & a man. Traditional marriage is a sacred institution that has been the cornerstone of the family unit for thousands of years. While we live in a more permissive and liberal society, the Gay marriage argument still has a long way to go before it is accepted unconditionally by every state. Among the biggest reasons for opposition is the assertion that the purpose of marriage is procreation and therefore same-sex couples cannot procreate by themselves. This one assertion I believe is the central reason why so many are still opposed.
Nonetheless, kudos once again to Miss California, Carrie Prejean for being herself.
